Federal Compliance
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) require federal and state agencies and projects with federal support to take into account the impact of any undertaking on cultural resources. Bunyak Research Associates can assist federal and state agencies and their consultants to comply with NEPA and sections 106 and 110 of NHPA for historic properties.
Bunyak Research Associates has prepared historic resources survey reports; preliminary planning documents that include reconnaissance surveys, feasibility studies, and Environmental Overview Studies; mitigation documentation and a wide range of technical reports including, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Studies and more recently, Tiered EIS documents.
Environmental Overview Study (EOS)
A reconnaissance level survey of historic resources was conducted to be included in a transportation planning document. The project included field survey for identification of potentially eligible historic resources to the National Register of Historic Places, preparation of technical memorandums, a final survey report, and an analysis of the potential effects on identified historic resources.

Environmental Assessments (EA)
Surveys of historic resources in an area impacted by a major roadway redesign. The project included completion of survey forms, a final survey report, public meetings to explain the results of the project, technical memorandums and an analysis of the impact of the project on historic resources.

Environmental Assessments Re-evaluation (EA)
Survey of historic resources in an area impacted by modal transportation redesign previously evaluated a decade ago. The project included field survey for identification of newly eligible historic resources, completion of re-evaluation survey forms, a final survey report, and an analysis of the impact of the project on previously and currently identified historic resources.

Environmental Impact Study (EIS)
The TEIS is part of a tiered analysis of potential environmental impacts associated with proposed transportation improvements to a 150-mile segment of US 50 in southeastern Colorado. Tier 1 Phase consists of development of programmatic agreement, development of historic context, and reconnaissance survey for the corridor.

Miscellaneous Mitigation Documents
Bunyak Research Associates has provided technical assistance on categorical exclusions, reconnaissance surveys, and white papers as a sub consultant for cultural resource and environmental firms for such projects as the Riverside Parkway Project, Hermsen Associates; Broadway, 16th to 20th Avenues, Categorical Exclusion, URS Corp; and Northwest Corridor EIS technical assistance and white paper for Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig.
